Why Heartwood Fins
Heartwood Fins was born from a passion for surfing and woodworking. Founded by Nico Millones, a surfer who grew up in Maine, with the goal to create fins that perform as beautifully as they look.
Based in Portland, Maine, our workshop is just minutes from the Atlantic coastline where our fins are tested. We believe that the connection between surfer, board, wave and nature is sacred – and your fins should honor that connection.
Every Heartwood fin is a celebration of natural materials, thoughtful design, and a strive for performance. Our fins begin as carefully selected upcycled or sustainably harvested timber, chosen for its grain, strength, and beauty. Our craftsmen shape each fin by hand, ensuring perfect foil profiles and flex patterns.
